You could qualify for 80% off a heat pump and home insulation. With the Warmer Kiwi Homes programme, if your home is insulated and you meet the eligibility criteria, you will receive a heat pump subsidy.
SUBSIDY Grants cover:
- 80% of the total cost of ceiling and underfloor insulation. In some areas the cost to you may be even lower, thanks to generous funding from community organisations.
- 80% of the cost of an approved heater. This could be a heat pump or an efficient wood/pellet burner for the main living area. Heater grants are capped at $3000 including GST.
I had underfloor insulation done at my property. Initially I assumed it’s going to cost me at least $1500, however to my surprise I was advised me that I’m eligible for the EECA discount so it’ll cost me about $560. The installation was done promptly. Everything was done in an hour then the auditor visited us on the same day to do the inspection! I’m extremely happy with the service I’ve received. Keep up the great work

Checklist for a heater grant
- You own and live in a home built before 2008.
- You (the owner) have a community services card or live in an area identified as low income.
- You have ceiling and underfloor insulation installed to EECA standards. If your home has been insulated through a Government insulation programme, we’ll confirm it when you apply for a heater grant. Otherwise G-Force (an EECA insulation provider) can do a quick check.
- Your home doesn’t already have one of the following fixed heaters that is operational in any living area of the house: heat pump, wood or pellet burner, flued gas heater or central heating system. If your home has one of these heater types, it is not eligible for a heating grant.
When I found out my ceiling and underfloor insulation was eligible for the EECA grant, I was completely “over the moon”. I was kept me informed by email all the way through and the guys finished the install today and both ceiling and underfloor insulation were installed very efficiently and with no problems. I want to thank all the team for their great service throughout the whole process.
