Deadline extended for the healthy homes standards: what landlords need to know

November 22, 2022

Today the Government announced it has extended the healthy homes standards compliance deadline for private landlords and Kāinga Ora.

Previously, landlords had been required to meet the standards within 90 days of any new or renewed tenancy from July last year.

What landlords need to know:

  1. The new healthy homes standard deadline: landlords now have until July 1, 2025 to comply;
  2. Compliance for a new or renewed tenancy has shifted from 90 days to 120 days

The healthy homes standards incorporate five aspects of a rental property, which all contribute to a warm and dry home including Heating, Insulation, Ventialtion, Moisture ingress & drainage and draught stopping.

G-Force Healthy Home Solutions can ensure your rental property is compliant with the latest legislation with a full Healthy Homes Report.

Normally $175 + gst – now $150 + gst
